Advancing Hope: The Mission of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center recognizes the profound impact of brain cancer, a disease for which effective treatments remain elusive. Their mission is to instill hope in patients grappling with this condition by spearheading research and development initiatives aimed at discovering and delivering much-needed medications. Despite the discontinuation of large-scale funding for brain cancer research in 2020, private philanthropy has emerged as a vital resource in addressing this critical unmet need.

As an international leader in neurological care, the Ivy Brain Tumor Center conducts the largest volume of brain tumor surgeries in the United States, performing over 1300 procedures annually. They are dedicated to advancing the field of brain tumor drug development through their groundbreaking early-phase clinical trial program. By pioneering an innovative approach to Phase 0 clinical trials, they swiftly identify promising therapies while eliminating those that prove ineffective. This approach ensures that patients have access to treatments that work for them, with the flexibility to switch therapies as needed without delay.

At the Ivy Brain Tumor Center's new facility on the Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center campus in Phoenix, Arizona, they bring together world-class neuroscientists, investigators, clinicians, and operational staff. Their state-of-the-art building features dedicated laboratory space, 14,000 square feet for trials infrastructure, 7,000 square feet for multidisciplinary clinical consultations, an MRI-guided ultrasound suite, and a cutting-edge teleconferenced auditorium. Through their collaborative efforts, they are driving progress in the fight against brain cancer and offering hope to patients and families worldwide.

The End Brain Cancer Initiative (EBCI) maintains a strong relationship with Ivy's clinical research team, enhancing the continuum of care for patients. EBCI serves as a bridge between patients and Ivy, offering resources and support, and Direct Connect specialists.
